As early as September, the first of the -ber months, Filipinos get hyped up for the Christmas season. You’ll know it’s that time of year when you see Christmas decorations along streets, homes, and buildings.

Nativity Scenes clearly portray the night Jesus was born. It depicts the presence of the Virgin Mary, Joseph, the three wise men, and all the other animals present on the night.
As it is seen almost anywhere in the Philippines during Christmas time, some even role play and pose as the characters seen on the Nativity Scene. Crowds generally enjoy the show and look forward to the performance each year.

This is commemorated by attending the 9 night masses that begin in the early dawn of December 16, and ends on Christmas Eve of December 24.
The Simbang Gabi, the other name for Misa de Gallo, is believed to grant you a wish once you get to attend all of the nine evening masses without being absent in one. In the Philippines, it is attended by families and groups of friends.
Attending the Misa de Gallo would not be complete without having to enjoy these delightful treats. The puto bumbong and bibingka are one of the widely-enjoyed delicacies during the Christmas season in the Philippines.
This goes perfectly along with sikwate, a hot chocolate beverage that Filipinos enjoy.
Kids, teens, young adults, and even middle-aged people all enjoy this kind of activity. Christmas Caroling is done by singing and dancing to Christmas and holiday songs in front of the homes of people.

Filipino families prepare and enjoy the grandeur of this feast. The noche buena is the Christmas dinner on the eve of December 24. It is prepared with delicious Filipino dishes and marked with the traditional Queso de Bola.
Most of the time, the preparation of the noche buena is considered to be one of the best bonding times Filipino families can enjoy in the holidays. As it is something that only takes place once a year, people emphasize on the feast and bring out the very best in what they could have.

The manito-manita is not like your ordinary way of exchanging gifts. It is usually done by using nicknames for the participating people, and having to pick out random names and choose out gifts that are part of the wish list or you think is something that the person you’ve picked would like to have.
The thrill in this activity is knowing that you do not have any idea of who got yours and who you got. Could there be any more thrilling and exciting than this?
On the day of the exchanging of gifts, a song is sung with the lyrics “I love my manito/manita, yes I do” and is repeated until you reach the person you’ve picked as you all form a circle.
Manito denotes a male, whereas a manita is for the female.
